Which Alabama high school has the most players in the NFL?

On the first Sunday of the NFL’s 2017 season, 62 former Alabama high school standouts are on the active rosters of the 32 teams.

Daphne and Oxford have three former players apiece on active rosters.

The former Yellow Jackets are Tampa Bay Buccaneers middle linebacker Kwon Alexander, Buffalo Bills safety Trae Elston and Miami Dolphins cornerback Bobby McCain.

The former Trojans are Washington Redskins outside linebacker Ryan Anderson, Baltimore Ravens defensive tackle Michael Pierce and Jacksonville Jaguars running back T.J. Yeldon. Daphne also has a player on an NFL practice squad – outside linebacker Eric Lee with the Bills.

There are six former Alabama prep players on practice squads, four on injured reserve and one on the non-football injury list.

Overall, 56 state high schools are represented on NFL rosters.

Alabama’s NFL high school roster is dominated by defensive players because of a paucity of offensive linemen. There are 38 defensive and 24 offensive players. Including the reserve players only increases the gap, with six defensive and five offensive players sidelined to open the season.

By position, Alabama’s prep players on active NFL rosters include 13 linebackers, eight safeties, seven cornerbacks, seven wide receivers, five defensive ends, five defensive tackles, five running backs, four quarterbacks, two centers, two fullbacks, two guards, one offensive tackle and one tight end.

The Bills, Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals have the most former state prep standouts on their active rosters with five apiece.
