Auburn will be represented by safety Tray Matthews, kicker Daniel Carlson and offensive lineman Braden Smith. Matthews is entering his third year as a starter in Auburn’s secondary and is the unquestioned leader of the defense heading into this fall. Carlson is a two-time finalist for the Lou Groza Award and is arguably the nation’s best kicker in 2017, while Smith has appeared in 39 games, including 27 consecutive starts along the offensive line dating back to 2014, and is the leader of that unit.
What do you want asked at SEC Media Days?
This year will mark the first time since 2010 that Auburn will not have an offensive skill player representing the program at SEC Media Days. That year, prior to the team’s national championship season, the Tigers had linebacker Josh Bynes, defensive back Aairon Savage and offensive lineman Lee Ziemba representing the team in Hoover.
Carlson is the only specialist among the league’s 14 teams who will attend SEC Media Days this year. Smith is one of eight offensive linemen who will be in attendance, while Matthews is one of seven defensive backs who will represent their respective schools.
