Trump assistant and Alabama native Cliff Sims says Obama administration abused its power

Cliff Sims, the Alabama native now serving as director of White House Message Strategy, is joining the chorus of those accusing the Obama administration of overstepping its bounds by investigating ties between Russia and Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.
In a series of tweets posted over the weekend, Sims said “no one outside of elite media” is surprised the Obama administration would “abuse its power,” echoing claims the president made this week. In his own tweets over the weekend, the president asked if it was “legal for a sitting President to be “wire tapping” a race for president prior to an election? Turned down by court earlier. A NEW LOW!”

The president is calling for an investigation into the wiretapping claims, which both the FBI and officials with the former Obama administration have denied.
Sims joined the Trump White House in January after taking a leave of absence from his Alabama-based conservative political website Yellowhammer. He serves as Assistant to the President and Assistant Communications Director for White House Message Strategy.
