Ricky Stenhouse won Geico 500 at Talladega, but fan’s Nick Saban back tattoo won the day
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. may have won the Geico 500 at Talladega on Sunday.
The congratulatory kiss from girlfriend Danica Patrick made things even sweeter, but it was the affection for Alabama football coach Nick Saban that won the day.
A Crimson Tide fan was the center of a social media blitz after losing the shirt for some sun. That’s when everyone saw Saban in all his glory.
The tattoo is a depiction of Saban and the Alabama logo surrounded by the dates of 15 of the program’s claimed national championships.
Looks like he may need to update the ink. That tattoo might be a bit out of date.
Meanwhile, at Talladega Superspeedway, there was some racing.
Stenhouse Jr. got to Victory Lane, in his 158th career NASCAR Cup start, and his team owner and famous girlfriend were waiting.
A last-lap pass of Kyle Busch in overtime Sunday got Stenhouse the win at Talladega, which was the first for resurgent Roush Fenway Racing since 2014.
Patrick, who had wrecked out of the race, was in street clothes and able to lean into the car to give her boyfriend a congratulatory kiss.
“Pulling into Victory Lane and seeing Jack and Danica standing there together, they’re the same height, it was super special,” he told The Associated Press. “She’s been so supportive and knows how hard that I’ve worked, and to have her there was really awesome.”
No one asked Stenhouse about the guy with the tattoo.
In the meantime, if you see this guy, tell him to contact us. I have no doubt there is a great story behind the ink.
