New bar at The Wharf; more beach condos on the way
Local developers paid $750,000 for 40 acres on South Pecan Street in Foley, and plan to develop the property for a single-family residential community in the future, according to Niki Coker of NAI Mobile, who represented the buyers. Skip Davis of Coastal Real Estate & Development worked for the sellers.
Sandshaker at The Wharf has leased waterfront space at The Wharf off Canal Road in Orange Beach and plans to open next month, according to Jeff Barnes of Stirling Properties, who represented the landlord. Sandshaker is the home of the original Bushwacker and plans to expand from its location in Pensacola.
Presales are under way and work is expected to begin in March on Sea Glass condominiums, a 51-unit Gulf-front complex on West Beach Boulevard in Gulf Shores, across from Pier 33, according to local developers. Cunningham Head LLC is the developer and Bob Shallow of REMAX Paradise is marketing the project. More than half of the units have presold at prices starting in the $300s. The four-story complex boasts 200 front feet on the Gulf and will be built to Gold Fortified construction standards. The contractor is Gaillard Builders and the architect is Henry Norris & Associates. Most of the one- and two-bedroom units feature a media room, and project amenities include a resort-style pool and covered parking.
The city of Orange Beach plans to purchase 81 acres off the Foley Beach Express north of the Baldwin EMC office for $1.45 million, according to city planners. The property will be used for future projects, including possibly a new shooting range.
An investor purchased the 8,000-square-foot historic warehouse at 11 N. Broad St. in downtown Mobile, and plans to stabilize the building and possibly rent out the street frontage as part of the revitalization of Broad Street, according to Lewis H. Golden of Hamilton & Company, who represented the sellers, Vrazel Chemical. The building at the intersection of Old Shell Road and Broad Street has been home to Vrazel Chemical for several decades.
